You know it’s almost fall when you start seeing Halloween and Christmas decorations in all the catalogues! :) I’m not quite ready, but I do enjoy the changing seasons. Pumpkins, falling leaves, and crisp temperatures are starting to work their way in. We had one more beautiful summer sunset the other night:
I love marathon training, and fall is the perfect time to increase your mileage - cooler temps, less humidity, and beautiful views. I’ve had some great marathon workouts recently including mile repeats, a 5 mile progression tempo, an 8 mile regular tempo, and long runs with marathon pace miles. Here are some highlights:
Lots of miles comes with lots of pairs of shoes! These are my favorite shoes in my favorite color. Amazon has been our store of choice to buy shoes recently, as they always seem to have the best price and the color/size combo I want. Running Warehouse and Road Runner Sports are also great, but they don’t always have what we’re looking for. Where do you buy your shoes?
On another note, lets get into some recent eats. Lots of miles also comes with lots of food!
For breakfast, I have been craving more hot oatmeal. Here is my oatmeal topping bar from the other morning. From left to right: maple syrup, kefir, blueberries, cinnamon, peanut butter, and granola.
Here was my breakfast #1 and breakfast #2 to fuel my long run last weekend. Before I had a bagel with peanut butter and banana, and after I had a raspberry smoothie bowl topped with granola and blueberries.
For dinner, we have been making more recipes from my new cookbook. On the left is a pasta salad with spinach, tomatoes, broccoli, chickpeas, and feta. On the right is turkey meatballs with brown rice, green beans, and a side salad.
You know it’s a good meal when you’ve got lots of bright colors!
